The NPPA has revised/ fixed the prices of 94 formulation packs on 9th July, 2003. While in case of 75 packs prices have been revised downwards, the revision in prices was warranted due to downward revision in the price of various scheduled bulk drugs, in 6 packs, price have been increased. There is no change of price in respect of 1 pack. Prices have been fixed for the first time for rest 12 packs. Out of 94 formulation packs, ceiling prices have been fixed in respect of 52 packs. The formulations for which ceiling prices have been fixed/ revised include products based on bulk drugs like Vitamin with Lactic Acid Bacillus, Vitamine E Acetate, Prednisolone, Multivitamin, Erythromycin Stearate, Erythromycin Estolate, Erythromycin Ethyl Succinate, Erythromycin Base, Cefotaxime and Aspirin etc. These formulations are used in various treatments/ diseases like diabetics, carticosteroids, anti-biotic, anti-bacterial, analgesic, vitamin based formulations used in diseases caused by deficiency of vitamins etc.
The prices have been fixed/ revised in accordance with the provisions of the DPCO, 1995. The prices fixed/revised would become effective within 15 days and the manufacturers/ importers are required to issue the revised price list in Form-V to NPPA.
