Subject: DPCO, 1995-Fixation/revision of price of bulk drugs PCMX, Vitamin E Acetate and Griseofulvin

NPPA has revised the prices of bulk drugs PCMX from Rs. 300/- per kg. to Rs.322/- per kg., Vitamin E Acetate from Rs. 1459/- per kg. to Rs. 1497/- per kg. and Griseofulvin from Rs. 3664/- per kg. to Rs. 4300/- per kg. vide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary Nos. S.O. 472(E), S.O. 473(E) and S.O. 474(E) dated May, 2000. A copy of the same is enclosed. The notifications are also available on the NPPA website www.nppaindia.com.

The existing price of above PCMX was last notified by the Govt. on 04.09.97. At present, PCMX is produced by M/s Reckitt & Colman India Ltd. in the country. These prices revisions have been carried out by conducting the fresh cost price study based on the data of this company.

The existing price of Vitamin E Acetate was last notified by the Govt. on 06.08.97. At present Vitamin E Acetate is produced by M/s E.Merck (I) Ltd. in the country. This price revision has been carried out by conducting the fresh cost price study based on the data of this company.

The existing price of Griseofulvin was last notified by the Govt. on 06.08.97. These price revisions have been carried out by conducting the fresh cost price study based on the data of the only known manufacturer in the country namely M/s Glaxo India Ltd.

The revised notified prices shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the Official Gazette. All the manufacturers of the formulations utilising these drugs in their scheduled formulations are advised to follow the provisions of DPCO, 1995 with regard to pricing of the derivative formulations.
