The NPPA has revised/ fixed the prices of 29 formulation packs on 19th November, 2003. While in case of 1 pack price has been revised downwards due to reduction in price of scheduled bulk drug, in other case, the price has been increased. Prices have been fixed for the first time for rest 27 packs. Out of 29 formulation packs, ceiling prices have been fixed in respect of 25 packs. The formulations for which ceiling prices have been fixed/ revised include products based on bulk drugs like Aspirin with Caffine, Pentoxyfylline, Vitamin C & Vitamin B, Rifampicin+ Isoniazid+ Ethambutol and Ephedrine etc. These formulations are used in various treatments/ diseases like analgesic, peripheral vascular disease, anti-TB combination, bronchospasm, bronchial asthma, bronchitis etc.
The prices have been fixed/ revised in accordance with the provisions of the DPCO, 1995. The prices fixed/revised would become effective within 15 days and the manufacturers/ importers are required to issue the revised price list in Form-V to NPPA.
