The NPPA has revised/ fixed the prices of 32 formulation packs on 25th July, 2003. While in case of 26 packs prices have been revised downwards due to reduction in price of scheduled bulk drugs, in 1 pack, price has been increased based on the application submitted by the manufacturers. Prices have been fixed for the first time for remaining 5 packs. Out of 32 formulation packs, ceiling prices have been fixed in respect of 11 packs. The formulations for which prices have been fixed/ revised include products based on bulk drugs like Vitamin C, Chloroquine Phosphate, Nalidixic Acid, Metronidazol, Metronidazole Benzoate and Insulin etc. These formulations are used in various treatments/ diseases like deficiency of vitamins, malaria, amoebiasis and anti-diabetic etc.
The prices have been fixed/ revised in accordance with the provisions of the DPCO, 1995. The prices fixed/revised would become effective within 15 days and the manufacturers/ importers are required to issue the revised price list in Form-V to NPPA.
