Subject: DPCO, 1995-Fixation/revision of prices of 5 bulk drugs- Sulphamethoxazole, Vitamin B2 and Vitamin B2-5 Phosphate, Chloroquine Phosphate and Pentazocine

NPPA has revised the prices of bulk drugs Sulphamethoxazole from Rs. 419 to Rs. 330/Kg, Vitamin B2 from Rs. 2800 to Rs. 2438/Kg, Vitamin B2-5 Phosphate from Rs. 3737 to Rs. 3451/Kg, Chloroquine Phosphate from Rs. 1340 to Rs. 870/Kg and Pentazocine from Rs. 42126 to Rs. 38498/Kg vide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary Nos. S.O. 662 (E), 663 (E), 664 (E), 665 (E) and 666 (E) dated 14th July, 2000. A copy of the same is enclosed. The notifications are also available on the NPPA website www.nppaindia.com.

The existing price of Sulphamethoxazole was last notified by the Govt. on 06.08.97. The price revision has been carried out by conducting the fresh cost price study of major producers of the drug.

The existing price of Vitamin B2 and Vitamin B2-5 Phosphate was last notified by the Govt. on 03.07.97 and 30.04.98 respectively. This price revision have been carried out by conducting the fresh cost price study.

The existing price of Chloroquine Phosphate and Pentazocine were reduced based on available data/information under para 11 of DPCO, 1995. The prices of these drugs were last notified by the Govt. on 21.02.97 and 27.11.95 respectively.

The revised notified prices shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the Official Gazette. All the manufacturers of the formulations utilising these drugs in their scheduled formulations are advised to follow the provisions of DPCO, 1995 with regard to pricing of the derivative formulations.
